나를 감싸고 있는 밤은

온통 지옥같은 암흑

신들이 어떻게 하든지

정복되지 않는 내 영혼에 감사하여라

 

 

잔인하게 쓰러진 상황에서도

나는 움츠러들지도 크게 울지도 않으리

내 머리에 피가 나도록 위협해도

나는 굽히지 않으리

 

 

분노와 비탄 너머에

어둠과 공포만이 거대하고

오랜 세월의 위협에도

나는 두려워하지 않으리

 

 

문이 좁은 것은 중요치 않다

어떤 벌도 문제되지 않는다

나는 내 영혼의 주인…

 

 

나는 내 영혼의 선장인 것을

In the fell clutch of circumstance

Looms but the horror of the shade

How charged with punishments the scroll
