David Small (born February 12, 1945 in Detroit, Michigan) is an American author and illustrator. He was only 2 years old when he began drawing. So he earned a bachelor of fine arts degree at Wayne State University and a master of fine arts degree at Yale University. In 2001 he won the Caldecott Medal for So You Want to Be President?. He also earned a 1998 Caldecott Honor for The Library, written by Sarah Stewart, his wife, recipient of the 2007 Michigan Author Award. Mr. Small and Ms. Stewart live in Mendon, Michigan.

물론 지나다닐 통로와 문 입구는 막지 않는 전제하에....
예전에는 나의 서재를 갖는 게 꿈이었는데
아이아빠 따라 이사다녀야 하는 지금은... 그게 아주 먼 뒤의 꿈이겠지만....
언젠가는 나도 나만의 서재로 가득 책을 채우고 싶은 꿈이 있다....
Dennis도 두 책 너무나 즐겁게 잘 보았다....
다음에 꼭 원어로 봐야겠다고 다짐하며....
이 두사람은 부부다...
이 분들을 보면 정말 부부는 일심동체란 말... 실감난다....리얼하게....
나도 저렇게 나이들고 싶다는 생각까지....
